A Better Life by Beating Procrastination

A Better Life by Beating Procrastination

Everybody gets lazy every so often. We all know that. What we don't know, however, is how to beat procrastination. Whenever we put off something for the next day or perhaps never, we are already procrastinating. We always find ways to not to work. This may be the easy way out, until we realize later on that we are actually making things harder for ourselves. These are responsibilities that we still have to complete. Say, our car needs fixing. We keep thinking that we can always do it some other time. Then one day, this car breaks down in the middle of the highway. We have it towed and have someone total the overall charges of fixing the defective part. Only this time, the damage has become bigger. The expense has actually increased and has gone way beyond our budget. If we only took care of it earlier, we wouldn't have ended up with this kind of dilemma. That car could be the metaphor of our lives. We keep taking the easy way out until things just become too difficult to handle.

This is taking the easy way out because we keep finding ways to avoid work we don't want to do but will eventually have to complete. We can always find ways to postpone something, and whether these tasks are simple or not, we have the freedom to not do it.

No matter how good our excuses are, we end up feeling guilty. We can never get away from reality, and no matter where we hide, it only stays right behind us. These responsibilities that we try to run away from will keep haunting us until we have the guts to face them. If that is the case, we may as well do something about it immediately. If we have even an inkling of respect for our lives, we have to know that we need to face up to the cards that are dealt to us. That is why we need to make that important decision to move forward and overcome whatever makes us lazy. We'll definitely notice a big change when we decide to become adults about it. There are things we simply cannot run away from, and instead of trying every way to avoid them, we need to find ways to cope with them.

Once we make the decision to take control of our destiny, success becomes more of a likelihood than a distant dream. To grow, we need to move forward because that is the only way to become a better person.  We get to hone our inner talents with constant practice. If we constantly challenge ourselves to face problems, we will surely get better at it. That is why we should never let the tasks overwhelm us. If we learn to take baby steps, we'll realize that anything is possible. Life was never meant to be easy because if it were, people would have nothing to aspire for. It's the excitement and the wait that makes things more valuable. And we will gain much from it if we learn to just do some work to organize our life.

Beating procrastination is a big leap towards a whole new and exciting life. Our successes become better as we also become stronger and more skilled.

How to Stop Procrastinating

Live While I am Alive

Live While I am Alive

Wouldn't it be nice to curl up in front of the TV and do nothing? As nice as this thought is, we can only laze around for too long. In fact, with the pressing demands this world has, a day may be enough. Anything more than that and we'll pay a high price for it. While laziness is something easy to overcome, procrastination can actually be the bigger foe. Whenever we put off work, we are already procrastinating. We always find excuses not to do some things. This definitely is the easy way out, until we realize later on that we are actually making things harder for ourselves.

We all have responsibilities to fulfill. If we keep delaying things, we may end up dealing with bigger problems in the end. And this time, the damage could be irreparable. If we take care of things early on, we wouldn't end up with a big dilemma that we could have avoided to begin with. The truth is, we may keep taking the easy way out until things just become too difficult to handle. The truth is, we actually do what we do to avoid work we dislike but will eventually have to complete. We can always find ways to postpone something, and whether these tasks are simple or not, we have the freedom to not do it.

As good as our excuses may sound, our guilt eats us away until we are constantly restless and unsatisfied. We can never get away from reality, and no matter where we hide, it will remain to be right at our heels. These responsibilities that we try to run away from will keep haunting us until we have the backbone and fortitude to face them. If that is the case, we may as well do something about it right now. If we have even an inkling of respect for ourselves, we have to know that we need to face up to the cards life has dealt us with. That is why we need to make that important decision to move forward and overcome whatever makes us so unproductive and slothful. We'll definitely notice a big change when we decide to become mature about it. There are things we simply cannot run away from, and instead of hiding, we need to find ways to deal with them head-on.

Once we make the decision to take control of our fate, success becomes more likely. It will no longer be that dream we can never live in. To prosper, we need to move forward because that is the only way to develop into a better person.  We get to sharpen our inner talents with constant practice and whet our appetites for a better life. If we constantly challenge ourselves to face problems, we will surely get better at it. That is why we should never let anything overpower us to the point of immobility. If we learn to take things slow, we'll realize that anything is possible. Life is all about constantly striving for something. That's what makes it so exciting, and that's a part of life's wonderful appeal. It's the journey that makes things more valuable.

    How To Defeat Procrastination

Why does one usually put off things to do at a later time? What are the reasons behind this type of behavior? How can one actually defeat procrastination?

Too many people are guilty of procrastination. And if one is not proactive in his approach towards correcting this behavior, it will become a habit, a bad habit that will put one in continuous inaction.

This will surely lead one towards perfecting the art of procrastination. If one would want to put a stop to procrastination there are things they can do to address this. There is hope for those who want to get out of this bind and actually live a life of fulfillment and satisfaction. By making the effort to defeat procrastination, you are on your way towards a better life one that you can be happy and proud of.

Why is it so tempting to procrastinate? Nobody is exempted from this, it's a continuous struggle for people. If one can only be consistent in defeating procrastination, they will continually have enough time completing their tasks and reaching their set goals. Below are some reasons why people procrastinate. With these you will at least understand why such behaviors come to be.

    Lack of knowledge or skill

Some people will delay doing something they don't know how to go about proceeding. Without sufficient knowledge to do a task right, individuals will naturally postpone doing it until they feel they are ready to do so.

    Perfectionism

Having too high of standards will lead you towards a perfect work. But most often than not, such drive is unrealistic. It will also consume lot of your time. You'll continually do your work over and over until you consider it to be within your standards. Perfectionism will also cost you time since you will usually put off doing something you may not have the perfect idea for yet.

    Lack of commitment

Without solid commitment to the things you have to do, there is no way you will be able to start on time and finish your tasks on time. Commitment relates to your personal discipline. Procrastination will thrive on individuals who don't have the discipline to work on things just because they don't feel like doing so.

    Fear of failure

Not having the courage to start working on what needs to be done will cause one to procrastinate. They will postpone things so that they will not have to give in to failure earlier than necessary. This will just prolong their agony however with such a negative attitude they are most likely destined to fail. Fear can be overwhelming and if one is unable to control it, they may just procrastinate just so they can save face for some time.

Here are some tips to defeat procrastination:

Being realistic about your standards Too many times, perfectionists are caught up in a bind that they create for themselves. They are caught in the flow of inaction and seemingly unable to complete a task until it conforms to the high stands they impose upon themselves. Learn to know your limits and settle for a near perfect work if you have to. But don't let perfectionism become a hindrance towards completing your tasks on time. Good work is really good enough.

Be motivated Create a setup where you reward yourself for completing tasks and meeting deadlines. Knowing what motivates you will be the key towards coming up with the rewards you will give yourself. You can also establish small wins by dividing tasks into stages so that milestones can be set. In doing so, you will feel a certain fulfillment as each milestone is reached.

Attitude determines altitude With the right attitude, you will not have problems working on tasks that need your attention. You will be confident enough to take on any activity for the completion of tasks. You will make every effort towards making things happen for the purpose of producing good work and meeting deadlines.
